Africans task Chinese govt on substandard products

Some Africans attending a seminar on Intellectual Property Right (IPR) in Beijing have tasked Chinese government to help rid African markets of substandard products imported from China.
Kyenda stanley from Zambia urged Chinese authorities to ensure that only certified products of international standard were imported to Africa.
He said most of the substandard products produced in China found their way into African markets and such products could cause damage to users.
Another African, Maudhoo Purnima from Mauritius, also complained of substandard products in African markets, saying most of such products were from China.
He also urged the Chinese government to look into the issue, especially electrical appliances and houshold items.
Responding, Mr Wang Chunye of Trademark Office in China, called on relevant agencies in African countries to assist the Chinese government in accomplishing the task. (NAN)
